How to use OTC card to pay cable bill in 2023

 OTC cards are benefit cards that are given to low income families to assist them in paying the bills.

Use your OTC Plus card to pay for non-prescription drugs, health-related items, healthy foods, and home utilities such as gas, electric, water, and internet.

The key word here is health related. You can use your OTC card to pay for a lot of health related items. You can also pay your cable bill as  the bill being paid is for either your home cable bill or the bill of a residence that you stay at.

I have been using my OTC to pay 80% of my cable bill for the last two years. Last year the procedure to pay your cable bill using your OTC card was relatively easy. I just googled pay cable bill with OTC card and was pretty much directed to the proper website. But in 2023 the website has changed. Now you have to register yourself at the new site here:  https://member.healthfirst.org/login

Then you have to go through a couple of steps to reach the page to pay your cable bill.  There are many links on the pages within this website and it can be a bit tricky to reach your destination in order to pay your cable bill. Once you log into the site you will be taken to the homepage which looks like this:

 Now if you look on the left hand side toward the bottom there is box which says remaining balance. Inside that same box you will see a link that says OTC Benefits Center. You have to click on that link to take you to the next step.

Now you will see this pop up box. Press the green continue button.

 Now you will see this page:

Click on the box on the left hand side which says CompleteCareOTC Plus. Your OTC balance will be shown within the box:

Now you look towards the bottom where it says Ways to Shop below that click on the third ption which says OTC bill payment:

Now you are on the bill pay page. If you scroll down you will see three questions. Make sure you answer yes to all of the questions in order to be eligible to pay your cable bill with your OTC card. From here just follow the directions on the page. To set up a new bill you must first select your cable provider from the drop down box. From there you will be taken to this page:

Here you must enter your cable account number. You can get this number from your cable bill. Do not make the mistake of entering your Healthfirst Member Id. It's your cable account number from your cable bill that goes here. After that you will be taken here:

  Here is where you enter the amount you want to pay. Make sure the amount does not exceed your OTC balance. If you enter all of the information correctly you will get a success confirmation page.  Now just wait a couple of days for the payment to go through. Note you can use all of your OTC balance to pay your cable.

As you can see there are a couple of steps you have to go through. Sometimes I myself have trouble finding the payment page. Here is a Youtube video which takes you all of the steps.
